August Antics

We kicked off August with a haircut from Aunt Hanna (doesn't he look handsome) and tooth #7 -his left incisor.  Below we've got "the many faces of Nathan..."

Would you look at those cheeks?!?!?

Here's Nathan caught in the act!  Even though he knows he's not supposed to be doing this, he will still occassionally stick his arm in the subwoofer and pull out the "stuffing..."  Does he look full of guilt, or what?!?!

Nathan took his first trip to Eckert's Orchard this month!  We went with Melissa, Jet and Grayson (a little guy who Melissa is babysitting a few days a week).  It was a HOT and sunny day...

We persevered and picked some delicious peaches that Nathan enjoyed eating for weeks...

Nathan has been enjoying sucking on his sippy cup "hands free" so that he can carry stuff around...

How cute is this shirt that he got from the Nilsen's for his birthday?!?!  What a perfect pose (which is so rare)...

Nathan kicked off his 14 month birthday sharing a little breakfast off Daddy's plate...

A gorgeous shot of the Birthday Boy...

Running off his extra energy before bedtime...

Such a cutie...

Every now and then he'll carry his sippy around like this and it just cracks Mommy up for some reason...

Here we are cooling off on a hot summer day at the Tower Grove park sprinklers accompanied by Melissa, Jet (on the right) and Grayson (on the left).

Nathan was in his glory - he had an absolute ball...

Having fun with his buddy...

Trying his best to grab the water...

Taking a swing before heading home...

HA - he fits in the laundry basket just perfectly!  He enjoys crawling into it whenever there are clothes in there - doesn't matter to him if they're clean or dirty - he's equal opportunity...

The not so graceful exit...

But success without dumping the basket over...

Nathan still loves sucking on Daddy's Camelbak and it cracks us up because it's about as big as him...

The end of August brought another haircut!  Are you kidding me?  Every 4 weeks?  This little guy's hair grows like weeds!  Some of his favorite toys lately are all of his bath toys.  Here's his little fishy that he likes sucking on...

Off to enjoy a nice, sunny walk around the neighborhood...

At the urge of Aunt Carrie, we've been attempting to let Nathan feed himself.  Not so pretty, as you can see!  Very enjoyable for Nathan, not so enjoyable for Mommy and Daddy...

Near the end of the month, Nathan began his art career.  Although it may look like he's chewing on his crayon here, he's really deep in thought, pondering what to make of the blank canvas in front of him...

Still chewing...I mean, pondering...

Ah, yes, inspiration finally hits and he begins!  Mommy (and Mamoo who we were skyping with at the time) were shocked by his excitement to color...

Carefully choosing his colors...Speaking of colors, Nathan definitely has a favorite - yellow!  With green as a close second!  Whenever presented with a choice he will always grab the yellow object first and then the green one.

Considering a new technique...two crayons at one time...OOOH!

The completed and proudly displayed masterpiece...

Many of our days are filled with Nathan up on his tippy toes trying to peer into his dresser drawers...

...as he pulls everything he can reach out and throws it on the floor...

Future rock climber?  Nathan has started trying to climb onto/into everything!  His biggest success so far has been scaling his pack-n-play.  I wasn't quick enough with the camera, but he did get some footing with his left foot and was hanging on the side...

Oh no, his rummaging isn't limited to his dresser drawers...we've also got kitchen drawers that are fun too...

Our happy, smiley lovebug...

In other news this month, Nathan can say banana (his version is simply "nana").  Whenever we're in the grocery store, Starbucks or at home, he'll point to the bananas and scream "nana!"  I was hoping Momma would be his second word, but he's holding out on me.  Nathan also started a fun little pastime of clicking his tongue.  We have no idea where he picked this up but he sure has fun doing it.  Another favorite pastime is feeling his eyelashes.  At first, Mommy thought he was trying to poke himself in the eye but then my friend, Lyn, pointed out that he was just mesmerized with his lashes.  Oh, and here's a cute story - Nathan has always quieted down (for the most part) as soon as we start praying at our meals but at breakfast on the 24th he actually folded his hands in prayer position.  He's done it a few times since and I have yet to catch it on camera.  Too sweet!  He's also been having lots of fun with his toys this month - he started stacking his wooden blocks, will point out certain things in his books like Jesus, the sun and rainbows and his favorite Noah's Ark animal is the giraffe, with the zebra as a close second.  He likes brushing his hair, Mommy's hair and uh, Daddy's head.  He can point out his nose, eyes, ears and belly button.  We also introduced him to fast food; we met Daddy and Grandpa for lunch at Wendy's and Nathan devoured all four of his chicken nuggets but did it with style - he took the napkin and wiped his mouth after every bite!
