Nathan kicked off November by trying to fill some big shoes (Daddy's slippers)...
Here's our big boy on his 17 month birthday (the boo boo on his upper lip is compliments of Mommy's sharp nails)...
November brought with it the advent of many strip acts by Nathan...
Later in the month, we had the opportunity to spend Thanksgiving in Philly at MaMoo's house. Nathan's adorable turkey shirt was a home made gift from our friend Nikki Rorabaugh - so cute...
What a ham...I mean turkey...
As you can see, Nathan was really into trying on other people's shoes this month. Here he's trying on cousin Tammy's super cute rain boots. However, on him, they look more like hip waders...
Ah yes, one of the highlights of the entire trip was that Nathan got to experience some entertainment like no other...his very own Great Aunt Sandy "flibbing her jibs" which is something all of us kids grew up adoring. Nathan also seemed to get a kick out of it...
Here's a great picture of Nathan with cousins Tammy and Carter...
The day after Thanksgiving, we got a few day visit from Uncle Jason, Aunt Sherri, cousin Elizabeth and cousin Jonathan. What a sweet crew...
Visiting MaMoo's house is more like visiting a nature preserve since she lives smack dab in the middle of Pennsylvania's Ridley Creek State Park. While there, we had a few visits from MaMoo's regular friends, the foxes, who she feeds every morning...
What a fun experience for Nathan...
Nathan also really enjoyed helping MaMoo fill her bird feeders for all of the various birds that come to visit her. He just loved watching all of the birds swing by her back deck for a bite to eat...
Over the weekend, we took a family trip to downtown Philly so Mommy and Uncle Jason could re-live (and introduce the kids to) our childhood visits to the Wanamaker's (now Macy's) Christmas Light and Organ Show. Before the show, we took advantage of this great photo opportunity in front of this beautiful Christmas tree...
Off to the light and organ show...
What a fun memory to share...
Nathan was in awe...
Afterwards, we visited the Dickens Village in the department store...
Then, off to Jim's Steaks for lunch. In Mommy's humble opinion, this is THE BEST cheesesteak restaurant in all of Philly...
Nathan thoroughly enjoyed his first ever cheesesteak (here he's got a mouth full of this culinary deliciousness)...
We wrapped up the day with a visit from Pap Pap...
What a great picture of Nathan and MaMoo...
We also spent an afternoon visiting with Pap Pap and Carole...
Here's Nathan enjoying a morning read of Plow and Hearth with MaMoo...
Before wrapping up our trip to MaMoo's, we visited the stables so Nathan could visit with some more of MaMoo's friends. At first, he enjoyed just looking at them...
But then he decided to go in for a rub of the nose...
And then he got really bold and just about jumped over the fence...
With all of the loving he was giving out, Nathan attracted some more friends...
Before leaving, he decided to give a farewell kiss to this horsey...
And a pat goodbye to this one...
What a fun month of visiting with family and God's other creatures!
I have to share my personal highlight of the month. On Wednesday, November 24th, 2010, Nathan gave me one of the best gifts that he will ever be able to give me! He said "Momma" for the very first time! Talk about God's perfect timing...here's how it happened. I didn't mention this in my previous monthly posts because it was more painful than I thought it would be, but back on September 29th, 2010 I returned to work at Moneta Group. It was an 8-week consulting job filling in for someone on maternity leave and although it was supposed to be part-time from home it turned into more than full-time in the office. Anyway, during these 8 weeks my dear friend Linda Hostetter Walz watched Nathan and one thing she was working on with him the entire time was trying to get him to say Momma so as to surprise me. Well, he never once uttered it until my last day of work. I came home from work, walked through the front door and he came running out from the kitchen into the living room screaming "Momma!" and jumped into my arms. What a reward after 8 very long weeks away from my little Lovebug! This is a memory I will cherish forever!
