Junebug Turns Two!!

While waiting for Junebug Too to arrive, Nathan and Mommy kicked off June with a trip to the Transportation Museum (complete with his Thomas the Tank Engine shirt) with our friend Mrs. Angie and her three kiddos, Nolan, Spencer and Masey.  Nathan really enjoyed the train rides we took around the park...

Here's Nathan and one of his favorite friends, Nolan, at the helm...

Nathan had a ball running through the sprinkler in our back yard this summer...

Sitting like a goofball in his chair donning his favorite Lighting McQueen jammies...

He still loves snuggling with Hobbes...

Nathan spent the majority of his 2nd birthday (June 20th) at the hospital waiting to bring his baby sister, Norah, home.  Grandma Krestel brought him a birthday gift to help him celebrate and pass the time...

Boy, oh, boy was he excited to open his Veggie Tales books...

When we arrived home from the hospital, MaMoo had this Elmo balloon and fun sign waiting for the birthday boy...

Thank you MaMoo!

It was a hectic day but we threw together an impromptu birthday dinner for our little guy.  Aunt Carrie and Uncle Ross picked up this yummy chocolate chip cookie cake for Nathan (as you can see, he couldn't wait to dig in)...

Blowing out his candles (we still can't believe he's already 2!)...

Celebrating with Aunt Carrie, Sarah and Madi...

Nathan has made it a habit to crawl into Mommy and Daddy's bed in the morning (unfortunately, not to snuggle us...he waits until we're out of bed so he can have it all to himself) and sometimes he'll bring some reading material...

Aunt Hanna brought over "the girls" (Anna, Alli and Makenna) one day to help Nathan run off some energy at the playground up the street.  Here are the kiddos enjoying lunch after playing hard...

Praying with Mommy before his nap...

Spending some one-on-one time with his puppy...

Chasing bubbles...one of his favorite pastimes...

Fun with MaMoo...

He just loves getting wet...

Lovin' on MaMoo's doggy, Gidget...

On June 26th we had Nathan's official 2nd birthday party.  The theme was Veggie Tales!  Here's a sweet picture of our Birthday Boy...

He was very into opening his gifts this year...

Having fun playing with his Mr. Potato Head with Aunt Hanna and Uncle Steve...

Getting dizzy on his sit-n-spin...

Celebrating with Mommy, Daddy and Norah...

For the party, MaMoo made a "Bob" cake (as in Bob the Tomato from Veggie Tales).  It was a fabulous replica that looked just like the real Bob...

Nathan is still talking about his Bob cake - it was quite a hit with him!  Thanks MaMoo!

Licking his chops to get a bite of his cake...

Sporting some green lips from eating Bob's stem...

Part of the celebration were Aunt Carrie, Uncle Ross, Sarah, Madi and Uncle Ferrara...

What a way to start the day...

Who says that swim diapers can't double as galoshes...

Helping Daddy mow the lawn - with the bubble mower that Grandma and Grandpa got him for his birthday...

After finishing with the lawn, Nathan and Daddy had some fun...

Nathan wrapped up the month with a pedi...

June had quite a few special moments with Nathan.  He started a tradition of smelling our roses and marigolds   in our front yard before going into the house.  On more than one occasion, when Mommy was rushed, Nathan literally made me stop and smell the roses...what a gift!  He hasn't quite distinguished between real flowers and otherwise because whenever I wear my silver necklace with the big daisy pendant he likes to take a big whiff of it!

One of the sweetest moments of the month with Nathan was one morning when I wasn’t feeling well, he and I spent most of the day laying on the couch watching Melmo (aka Elmo) and Bob (aka Veggie Tales) and he just sat there “petting” me and caressing my hair.  He just knew I didn't feel well and he wanted to do whatever he could to comfort me – so sweet!

Some of you may know that Nathan has been playing the piano at Grandma's house for quite some time but this month he started singing while playing!  Can't tell yet if he's been blessed with Daddy's beautiful voice but time will tell...
